A really good bookshop sticks in the mind — either as somewhere to return to again and again or to recommend to other book lovers. And some might say we’ve never needed bookshops, or their online incarnations, more than we have done in 2020.

Our recent Triumph of the Small Booksellers series shone a light on 11 bookshops around the world that have defied the pandemic — and even flourished. So we asked FT readers to join in by sharing their favourite bookshop, and why it’s so special to them. Responses flowed in from London to Lagos, Kuala Lumpur to Durban. We hope you enjoy browsing our selection.
